For Connected and Autonomous Vehicles to truly have an impact on Safety, Mobility, and the Environment, all vehicles and applications must operate nationwide, not just in a particular city, state, or region. Interoperability between vehicle, infrastructure, Vulnerable Road Users, etc. is critical; without interoperability, the system will not work. This presentation will focus on the need for Connected and Autonomous Vehicle communication standards, challenges for system deployments and from a device manufacture point of view, and the two (2) communication area’s (“radio” and message set) that need to be standardized.
