James Peters is Vice President and General Manager of Cisco’s Automotive, IOT and Connected Car Division. In this role, James is responsible for Research & Development, Marketing, and Innovation for Cisco’s automotive vertical worldwide. With over 25 years of experience, James has deep expertise working closely and strategically with customers while creating a culture of success, and partnering on world-class solutions.
Innovation and creativity are key priorities for James. He uses a balance of emerging technology and business conditions to change the rules of the game, drive new innovation, and create a paradigm shift in product marketing. James and his team drive impactful outcomes based on changing how customers take advantage of the innovation curve through digitizing infrastructure, operations, and processes.
In his previous role of IOT lead in the Automotive & Manufacturing market, he drove new solutions that developed emerging security services for the connected car by creating a single platform to integrate applications. The result was more efficient management of the customer’s supply chain. James initiated and drove market shifting programs such as collapsing the ATM/FR market, and more recently re-positioning software into a portfolio offer under the newly structured Enterprise Software Agreement.
Peters joined Cisco in 1997 as a Consulting Engineer in the Service Provider Alliances Organization driving consolidation of voice and data technologies. Over his tenure, he has held various positons in product management, router engineering, business development, marketing, service delivery, operations, and sales. Previously James held leadership positions at Bell Canada, after starting his career leading FCC testing at a start-up called Certelecom Laboratories.
Peters holds a Masters of Business Administration from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in Finance. He is the co-author of Voice over IP Fundamentals, published by Cisco Press in March of 2000.
